Tim Hofman confirms that he did not respond to a request for help from Nena Kruizenga, one of Thijs Römer’s victims. “We received about two thousand (!) emails in those weeks.”
Tim Hofman’s tool, BOOS, is trusted by a large group of young people in particular. Nena Kruizenga, one of Thijs Römer’s victims, therefore thought she was in the right place when she sent his program an email with a request for help. She revealed at the end of last year that she never received a response.
‘No reaction!’
It was also discussed this morning during the lawsuit against Thijs. Court reporter Saskia Belleman tweets about this: “The reason for the police investigation was a telephone call from Nena to the police on May 9, 2022. She told about ‘annoying experiences with a well-known Dutchman’. She had emailed Boos, but received no response.”
This tweet from Saskia provokes angry reactions from some people. They think that Tim should have responded to Nena’s request for help. Others suggest it’s a favor to friends: “You didn’t want to act against one grooming celebrity? Boyfriend of yours?”
Tim responds
Tim confirms in a response that he has not responded to Nena. “Looking back, I saw that I received a DM on January 20 at 4:41 pm – then the broadcast on The Voice was just online, that was chaos. In those weeks we received about two thousand (!) emails, and thousands of DMs to three editors. Plus: with such matters we go for systems, less for incidents.”
He continues: “We make 40 stories a year, and we don’t make more than we do. Furthermore, no idea whether there was already a declaration, for example.”
Corrupt mind
It’s not clear whether Tim or his team read the email and why they didn’t forward it to another agency, or at least pointed out ways to get help.
In any case, it bothers Tim that he is being made suspicious. “So now a bit of the same stupid reflex as with DWDD, through the class clowns; WHY DID YOU NOTHING? And then the assumption that it’s about holding hands or something like that. Nonsense. Nicely project your corrupt mind on your neighbor, not on us.”
‘Little suspicious’
One Gert-Wim tweets: “Extraordinary. Tim Hofman is always quick to point out things that he (!) finds awful. But if a victim reports abuse by an actor, the editors don’t care. In fact, Angry doesn’t even respond.”
Mrs. Corine then: “It is indeed a bit suspicious.”
Tim concludes: “No, it’s not. You are just too stupid or evil to understand that.”
