Due to violations in the licensing procedure of the past season, the Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee will be deducted six points before the start of the new season of the Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL). In addition, the club receives a fine in the “lower five-digit range”. That was decided by the licensing committee.
According to the VBL, the reason for the penalty was “in particular the opening of insolvency proceedings” by the carrier Ballsport-Liga GmbH on April 19, 2023.
“The severity of the violations and the objective of ensuring fair sporting competition made sanctions in the upper range of punishment inevitable,” said VBL Managing Director Daniel Sattler. The decision is final.
Sattler is pleased that the VBL club will remain. He rated the concept for the continuation of the Bundesliga location and the personnel changes made in the management structures and responsibilities of the Brandenburgers positively.
“We accepted the penalty with humility and are aware that as the successor organization we will not start with a clean slate,” said Netzhoppers board member Dirk Westphal. “We are happy that we were able to maintain the Bundesliga location in Königs Wusterhausen with a lot of effort.”
