Primark cuts prices on children’s clothing in the UK

Primark is slashing prices on childrenswear for the upcoming autumn/winter collection in the UK. The Irish textile discounter announced on Monday that the price reductions will primarily affect essential everyday clothing for babies and small children, such as T-shirts, leggings, pajamas and sweaters.

The changes will apply to select product ranges that will hit stores at the end of July. According to the discounter, the price reduction covers “hundreds” of items and builds on the low price guarantee for children’s products implemented last year.

The decision follows persistent inflation in the UK. Primark cites a study showing that almost two-thirds of Britons are concerned about the impact of rising prices on their purchasing power. Primark wants to counteract this, especially given that children’s clothing is an essential purchase, especially with the new school year approaching.

“Household finances remain tight for millions of people, and we know that value for money has never been more important to our customers,” said Paul Marchant, Chief Executive of Primark. “We want to do our part to alleviate that pressure by lowering the prices on many of our children’s items while still offering the same excellent quality.”

To what extent the price reductions are also conceivable in other countries is not yet known. Primark has not yet responded to a request from FashionUnited.
