Brabant fans of Roberto Jacketti & the Scooters can’t believe their luck. After 34 years, the band is going on tour again with a performance in De Kattendans in Bergeijk as a kick-off. Fans of the first hour can’t wait. “I cried tears at the farewell concert at the time,” says Bianca Kulik-Jakobs.
The announcement of the tour is well received by the supporters, 52-year-old Bianca from Boxmeer dares to say. She is the administrator of the Facebook page Roberto Jacketti & the Scooters and it is raining new registrations there.
The band was formed in 1980 and released four years later I Save The Day their most famous hit. The song was in the Top-40 for months. Five years later, the band split up, because singer Erik van der Hoff opted for a career as a presenter and program maker.

Bianca was about 15 years old when she often went to performances by the Dutch pop group. “At the height of their popularity, I saw the band perform in the sports hall of Boxmeer. Their enthusiasm was contagious. After a while they recognized us at the performances. I’ve never seen a band play with so much fun. At the farewell concert I cried profusely.”
After the breakup of Roberto Jacketti & the Scooters, she lost track of the band. But with the rise of the internet, she found it again. “The band name was one of my first searches,” says Bianca. “Through a forum I came into contact with other fans.”
That sometimes made sense, because Roberto Jacketti & the Scooters meet once every year. Like at the Dolly Dots concert. Singer Erik van der Hoff says: “That’s where the idea arose to enter the theater and tell our story of the 1980s. That period was a pressure cooker. We were popular and lived.”

The theater in Bergeijk has the premiere of the tour on Thursday 2 November. Van der Hoff: “My in-laws live in the area. They always complained about the travel time to our annual performance. Now we are going south ourselves.”
And that is also good news for Brabant fans, such as Bianca. Because when she saw the band again in 2005 at the annual reunion concert, Bianca was completely converted. “Since then I’ve been going to their concerts with a regular club of Scooter girls. Old love doesn’t rust.”
