With three rounds to go before the season ends, the young rider from Barcelona will play part of his chances for the title this weekend in Hungary
Martí, who has three victories this year and hopes to move up to F2 in 2024, is currently 36 points behind the leader Gabriel Bortoleto
There are three tests left for the Formula 3 season to end, which shares the calendar in several events with Formula 1. In the next two, Hungary, this weekend and Spa, at the end of July, the Barcelonan Pepe Martí plays a large part of his options for the title. Everything happens to cut differences to the leader Gabriel Bortoleto, who has 36 points.
Martí is aware that he needs to set a good time in qualifying to be able to start in the front positions of the grid at a circuit like the Hungaroring, that makes overtaking difficult.
“I’m really looking forward to starting the weekend, I think it could be a good track for us. This year we have taken something from each race and I think that in Hungary we can continue along the same lines, with this competitiveness and ‘performance’. We are going with the idea of getting as many points as possible, the leader is a bit far away but we will see where we end up after this race”, comments Pepe, who has just turned 18 and is already in the orbit of several F1 teams, such as Red Bull or Alpine, interested in including him in their youth academy.
The Campos Racing driver has so far three victories and a third place in his second season in the small category. But he needs to finish his job in the decisive phase of the World Championship, which concludes at Monza on September 3, if he is to secure a jump to F2 next year.
