Catalans open to transfer
AS Monaco appear to be persistent in their efforts to sign Sergiño Dest (21) from FC Barcelona. As the Catalan newspaper “SportsThe Ligue 1 club has been pushing for a loan deal with an option to buy for the past two transfer windows, but nothing came of it. After the failed attempts, a transfer is expected to take place next summer, which is why club officials were last in Barcelona to present their plan for a deal with the Blaugrana.
According to the report, the Monegasque were aiming for a temporary move before, but this time they are aiming for a permanent commitment. The club are looking to strengthen their right-back position as Djibril Sidibé (29) is out of contract at the end of the season and his future is set to lie in the Premier League. The Catalans are reportedly not averse to letting Dest go, but only for a fee of around €20m.

For a similar amount, the defender joined Barça in 2020, who paid €21m to Ajax Amsterdam. The US international’s market value is currently €18m following a devaluation in the latest update, making him one of the most valuable players in his position in LaLiga. Dest is a regular starter this season and has played 21 games so far, in which he contributed three assists. He had already been used in five different positions.
The native Dutchman is said to have put a stop to a departure in the past transfer period in order to get stuck with his club. His contract in Barcelona runs until 2025. According to “Sport”, there have also been inquiries from Atlético Madrid and FC Bayern, but nothing came of it. In the TM rumor mill, Dest is also associated with Borussia Dortmund, among other things.
