VIENNA (dpa-AFX) – The Vienna Stock Exchange closed on Wednesday with gains. The focus was on the securities of Bawag, which increased by more than five percent in view of the latest figures. Meanwhile, the ATX rose by 0.60 percent to 3186.52 points. The ATX Prime went up 0.55 percent to 1613.81 points.
Bawag increased its profit by more than 30 percent in the first half of 2023. The experts at Erste Group see strong figures for the past quarter at Bawag. However, the positive development of business at the bank was already known.
With regard to other individual values, the shares of the oil and gas group OMV turned positive in late trading and closed around one percent higher at EUR 40.82. The Berenberg experts had reduced their target price to EUR 48, but maintained their “buy” recommendation.
An analysis by Baader Bank also came into focus. The analyst firm left Andritz shares on its top picks list with a buy recommendation and a price target of EUR 75. However, the titles fell by 0.50 percent to EUR 48.18.
Voestalpine was also weak at minus 2.5 percent. Semperit, on the other hand, closed higher with a plus of three percent. Verbund increased in price by 2.8 percent.
According to consumer price data from the UK and the euro zone attention turned to US housing data this afternoon. In the United States, for example, building permits unexpectedly fell by 3.7 percent in June compared to the previous month. Experts had forecast an increase of 0.2 percent.
