In the Netherlands there were 10,640 pitches last year where people live in a caravan. These numbers come from the CBS and date from 2022. How many caravans are there in the municipality of Zoetermeer and where can you find them?

In 2022, Apeldoorn had the most caravans of all Dutch municipalities, about 315 places. The Hague is second with 235 places, followed by Amsterdam with 230 places and Maastricht with 205 places, according to the figures of the CBS.

According to Statistics Netherlands, there are 55 pitches for caravan residents in the municipality of Zoetermeer. You will not find these pitches in one place, but in different locations. There are caravans in Noordhove, Oosterheem and Het Dorp, among others.

Municipalities are allowed to determine themselves where a caravan may be parked. Gypsy caravan residents in various municipalities sounded the alarm with the National Ombudsman a few years ago. The reason was that fewer and fewer standing places are becoming available in their city. In Zoetermeer, the number of places has increased slightly over the past ten years. But according to some Zoetermeers may there be a lot more.
