There is still no clarity about the future of camping Ot en Sien in Roden. Tonight, alderman Robert Meijer could not make any promises during the council meeting of the municipality of Noordenveld.

Earlier this year, unrest arose at the campsite in the heart of Roden, now that it appears that the municipality of Noordenveld is considering the future of the site. As of January 1, 2025, it could just be that the campsite has to make way for something else.

The municipality of Noordenveld owns the camping site. The former municipality of Roden once got it from the Kymmell family.

When this was transferred – according to well-known stories – it was agreed that the then municipality of Roden would receive the land on the condition that it would always have a recreational destination. Alderman Meijer says that nothing is known about this at the town hall in Roden.

At the moment there is no clarity about the future of the campsite. This emerged from questions from Lijst Groen Noordenveld. “People from the campsite would come to speak at a group meeting of ours,” said councilor Tineke Nieboer. “They canceled that because they had been told by the municipality that continuity was guaranteed.”

Alderman Meijer seemed surprised by this. “We can’t confirm anything about camping Ot en Sien yet,” he says. Meijer does not yet know when that clarity will come.
