The third edition of the new women’s Tour de France will start in 2024 in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. The Tour de France Femmes will take place from August 12th to 18th.
The organizers announced the starting point on Monday in Clermont-Ferrand, while the men’s tour took a rest day there. More details on the routes are set to be released on October 25.
In addition to the Grand Départ in the port city, two more of the eight stages will then be held in the Netherlands before the riders move to France. The major cycling event takes place right between the Olympic Games in Paris and the Paralympics.
This year, the women will cover more than 956 kilometers in the Tour edition, which runs from July 23 to 30, 2023. The tour starts in Clermont-Ferrand.
The winner will be chosen a week later in Pau. One of the highlights on the penultimate stage is the mountain finish on the legendary giant of the Pyrenees Tourmalet.
Before her comeback two years ago, the previous version of the women’s tour was held from 1984 to 2009. However, the tour lost more and more of its importance after it had been held under different names since 1989.
