The top three of the British GP started celebrating too early.

The top three of the British GP had fun on the podium. PDO

An embarrassing situation was seen at the awards ceremony of the Formulas British GP, when the top three of the competition were too eager with the champagne.

Max Verstappen, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton dug out the champagne bottles at the podium place, even though the traditional victory trophy of the British GP was still to be handed out.

President of the International Automobile Federation FIA Mohammed bin Sulayem and the British Secretary of State for Culture and Sport Lucy Frazer had to stand awkwardly with the trophy in hand, trying to get the top three’s attention.

Moments later, Verstappen turned around and noticed the situation. The Dutchman grabbed the trophy and posed with Frazer while Norris sprayed sparkling wine around.

Frazer had to quickly escape from under the champagne, and the drivers were able to continue their celebration with the sparkling.

The victory was Verstappen’s eighth of the season and sixth in a row. The podium finish was Lando Norris’s first of the season, so the British driver decided to vent after the race.
