And Just Like That 2, episode 4: plot, review and cast

cArrie Bradshaw and her associates continue to delight audiences at And Just Like That 2 with new adventures. The fourth episode – available on NOW and on the air tonight at 21.15 on Sky Serie, entitled Viva – revolves around the apparent exploration of new frontiers. Actually, it’s just déjà-vu disguised as a novelty. And the hackneyed seems to have become the essential element of the sequel to that milestone of seriality that was Sex And The City.

And Just Like That 2episode 4: the plot

In the new episode, each of the protagonists is grappling with new adventures, more or less striking. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) has just published her new novel and runs into Enid (Candice Bergen), the historic director of Voguedownloaded from the magazine after thirty years of honorable career. Now he wants to found alivean online magazine for senior women. He involves her in the project, but Bradshaw does not feel ready by age.

Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) tries to keep family and love together. Son Brady (Niall Cunningham), after breaking up with his girlfriend, is depressed and she and Steve (David Eigenberg) take him to therapy. The session, however, turns out to be a failure because the boy confesses that he suffers from the profound crisis of his parents.

So, Miranda considers moving elsewhere. Meanwhile the relationship with Che (Sara Ramírez) continues. Lyle (Oliver Hiudson), Diaz’s ex-husband, enters their routine. It turns out that the two were fans of polyamory at the time of their union. And now Che proposes to experiment with Lyle.

Charlotte tries to transform into Samantha

The most surprising news concerns Charlotte (Kristin Davis). The daughters leave for an outing and finally she and Harry (Evan Handler) can enjoy some peace of mind. They do it by indulging in fiery encounters between the sheetsbut between orgasms Harry discovers he has an ejaculation problem.

That’s it Charlotte transforms into a fierce trainer, halfway between a wife in love and a Samantha Jones in a suit and pearl choker who is always etiquette. Samantha, though, is iconic. Irreplaceable. And the transformation comes more for script needs than for a real evolution of the character.

As a side dish, the relationship between Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) and her husband Herbert (Christopher Jackson)engaged in organizing a dinner that turns out to be unsuccessful and which adds nothing to the plot. Except for the part where Charlotte gets a tempting offer. Do you return to work in an art gallery or decline the offer?

And Just Like That 2the review

And Just Like That 2 it does everything to prove that it is contemporary, but it fails. The fourth episode highlights a plot that is not constantly developing, but stuck. And the result is a disappointing anachronistic effect. Sex And The City he was successful because he knew how to photograph an eracondensing it into a few minutes, episode after episode.

The sequel, however, does the opposite. It dilutes what has been, returning a weak and blurred image. The Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda of today are completely different from those of the past, and it’s not a matter of age. New York is not that of the early 2000s, nor are they they are no longer the rampant thirty-year-olds who unhinged society with a new and high-impact language.

Carrie has transformed into a demure middle-aged woman, embarrassed to talk about sex and even feelings. Miranda is the opposite. And the story with Che leads her to put herself in the background, but above all her son Brady, turning into a woman at the mercy of her fiancée’s moods. In the end, Charlotte is entrusted with the thankless task of introducing a little pepper that remembers that sex contained in the title of the original series. A bizarre expedient, which turns out to be less insightful, almost comical.

What if Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda have nothing more to say?

Compared to the first season, And Just Like That 2 takes a few steps forwardbut not enough to warrant a new chapter. Sex And The City it continues to relive in the minds and lines of its protagonists, but lacks its essence. What’s the use of stretching the broth when interesting news are lacking?

AJLT 2 it consists of 11 episodes and it is likely that it will also have a third season. AND Sex And The City it will be reduced to a plastic memory of the past, light years away from what Michael Patrick King, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon propose today.

Time has stopped, as Carrie says at the beginning of the third episode. They stayed twenty years ago. Nothing serious, it can happen, the important thing, however, is don’t rage in wanting to forcefully recreate that alchemy that already went away after the first film. After all, scrape the bottom of the barrel by calling Aidan and Samantha back – present in the next few episodes – it’s not riding the nostalgia effect, but pure persistence.
