On Monday evening, English media reported on a second offer from FC Bayern to Tottenham Hotspur for Harry Kane. The 29-year-old is Munich’s top transfer target and could replace Lucas Hernández’s previous record purchase if the clubs agree on a transfer fee. A report by “Sport Bild” suggests that the negotiations with the Premier League club will be the harder part on the way to the announcement, according to which the attacker favors a move to the Bundesliga – and there was also a meeting with coach Thomas Tuchel helped.

In mid-May, the 49-year-old made his way to London together with the then sports director Hasan Salihamidzic to promote two potential transfers at the same time. In addition to talks with Declan Rice, who is likely to move to Arsenal for around 122 million euros, Tuchel visited Kane in his house. The captain of the English national team was therefore impressed by the meeting with the ex-Chelsea coach and signaled his willingness to move to Munich.

Above all, Kane draws particular motivation from the fact that the chance of winning a title at FC Bayern is much higher than at most other top clubs. So far, the right foot can still look at a completely empty trophy collection – with the exception of individual awards.

In order to be able to finalize a change to the German record champions, Kane would also postpone his salary claims, it is said. At Tottenham, the striker earns around 12 million euros net in his contract, which ends in 2024, according to English media reports – a sum that would not break the salary structure in Munich. The top earner is currently Sadio Mané, who earns between 22 and 24 million euros gross.

For Bayern, Kane’s desire to move to Säbener Strasse improves the starting position immensely. Tottenham would like to prevent their club legend from leaving on a free transfer next year and the Englishman’s intentions could help the Munich side in the transfer game. Nevertheless, the first offer submitted in writing in London, amounting to just under 70 million euros and possible bonuses, was rejected. The “Spurs” are said to be demanding a sum of 100 million pounds (approx. 116 million euros).

In order to be able to sign the dream attacker, Bayern are willing to go to the financial pain threshold and, if necessary, to surpass the 80 million euros that Atlético paid for Hernández in 2019 (to Bavaria’s record purchases). The importance of a “number 9” in good form was recently demonstrated in the Bundesliga by Borussia Dortmund, who got a taste of the championship with the help of Sébastien Haller in the second half of the season, while Munich got into a form crisis without a real centre-forward.
