With a professional contract from 1. FC Köln last summer, goalkeeper talent Jonas Urbig gained his first second division experience on loan during the second half of the season between the posts of Jahn Regensburg. Now the 19-year-old FC home-grown player is apparently facing the next station in the lower house: How the “table football” reported, a loan deal with Greuther Fürth is about to be concluded.
Born in Euskirchen, he was recently associated with the two promoted players VfL Osnabrück and Wehen Wiesbaden, but according to the magazine, the “clover leaf” prevailed in the campaign for the talent.

According to this, those responsible for sport think highly of Urbig, whose contract in the cathedral city runs until 2024 and should include a mutual option for another year. With a market value of 1.5 million euros, he is the second most valuable German U23 keeper behind Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu.
After moving to Regensburg in January, Urbig had kept goal in all games in the second half of the season, conceding 28 goals and keeping two clean sheets. Despite good performances, the youngster was unable to prevent Jahn’s relegation. In Fürth, where he would compete with the Swede Andreas Linde, Urbig should now gain further valuable experience and take the next step.
