Water pipes closed due to falling trees

Water pipes are closed in various places in Drenthe to prevent the whole of Drenthe from being without water. At the beginning of the evening it seemed quiet late a spokesperson for WMD Drinking water.

WMD shuts down water pipes to prevent entire villages from running out of water. In Exloo, Wijster, Zwinderen and Yde, among others, trees have fallen and the roots have brought up water pipes. The water mains are closed in places to ensure that only a limited number of people are without water. This also keeps pressure on the water supply. A part of a village will not receive any water anyway, but that prevents an entire village from running out.

Low water pressure is an indication that there may be a leak. Technicians will then check whether there is indeed a leak in the pipe.

Mechanics are on their way tonight, tonight and tomorrow morning to repair the water pipes. Normally, technicians carry water with them to provide everyone with water. According to the spokesperson, that will not work everywhere tonight, but certainly tomorrow.
