Strikingly more oil pollution in the North Sea

Last month, the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences caught a fishing vessel discharging oil. A large oil slick was also spotted last week, with no direct link to the polluter. An estimated 1.6 tons of oil was spilled. This makes it one of the largest oil spills of the past 15 years in Belgian waters, which was not the result of an accident.
