It happened on Friday 11 February in Emmen at Grillroom Jaffa (one ticket) and on Saturday 12 February at McDonalds (two tickets) and at I love Sushi at the Peyserhof (one ticket).
An iPhone was also sold on that Saturday at Hondsrooswal in Emmen, where payment was made with counterfeit 50 euro notes. This happened on Sunday 13 February at the sale of an iPhone in Klazienaveen.
The police advise checking banknotes for authenticity. This can be done, for example, by looking at the watermark and the hologram. For retailers, there is equipment to assess whether notes are genuine or counterfeit.
In the Netherlands, the 50 euro note is the most counterfeit note. Since 2015, fewer and fewer counterfeit 50 euro notes have been found.
