SC Frankfurt 1880 is further up in German rugby. The Hessians won their third championship title in a row on Saturday at home.

SC Frankfurt 1880 remains the measure of all things in German 15-a-side rugby. Coach Byron Schmidt’s team beat SC Neuenheim 30-16 (20-6) in the Bundesliga final in their own stadium on Saturday and secured their third championship title in a row.

Before the eyes of the exceptional German talent Anton Segner, who was trained near Frankfurt and is now pursuing the dream of playing for the legendary All Blacks in New Zealand, the Hessians pulled away early on. In the second half, the Frankfurters then confidently completed the ninth championship in the club’s history. Neuenheim, which was in the final for the first time in ten years, missed out on the ninth title.
