New center bus for Bruges due to fewer buses from De Lijn
As of today, De Lijn’s new transport plan has started, as a result of which the buses will run less through the center than usual. The city of Bruges comes up with these small city center buses as a solution.
Electric van
The center bus can take 22 passengers and is equipped with air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. The stops are announced both on a screen and with sound. The small electric van would be a perfect addition as there are only two lines of larger buses going through the centre.
Large sum of money every year
Although it would be the perfect addition to Bruges, the van costs the city 800.00 euros per year. The shuttle is not the only additional cost as a result of the new transport plan. The city council of Bruges also reached an agreement with De Lijn to build an extra line towards Zeebrugge, via Lissewege and Zwankendamme. That also costs the city another 150,000 euros per year.
