Chelsea have closed the gap in the center of attack created by Kai Havertz’s departure to Arsenal and signed attacker Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal. Both clubs officially confirmed the transfer of the 22-year-old Senegalese on Friday evening, with Jackson signing an eight-year working paper at Stamford Bridge.
According to reports, the transfer fee is around 37 million euros, slightly higher than the release clause in Jackson’s Villarreal contract, which runs until 2026. This is due to the fact that Chelsea does not have to pay the sum in one go, but can agree on installments. The first new signing Christopher Nkunku, for whom RB Leipzig received 65 million euros, was handled in a similar way, the French national player’s clause was below the amount ultimately agreed.

Villarreal’s homegrown player contributed 16 goals in 26 league games last season. “We are delighted to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea. He’s a young player with great potential, which he showed for Villarreal last season.
