There are eight important newcomers to report in the season that starts in 2024.
The cast for the second season of “Squid Game” has finally been announced. Netflix has now announced this. In addition to the remaining actors of the first season, the ensemble will be expanded by eight more actors. The now complete cast met this week for the first rehearsal. Filming is scheduled to start later this year.
The South Korean series, in which participants compete in supposed children’s games to win a cash prize or have to pay with their lives, started for the first time in September 2021. Just four weeks after publication, the series was on around 142 million Netflix accounts worldwide been called up and thus became one of the most successful series of 2021 internationally.
Now the show penned by Emmy winner Hwang Dong-hyuk is entering its second round. In January 2022, Netflix producer Ted Sarandos confirmed production of a second season. This should then be available on the streaming platform in the course of the next year.
The cast newcomers at a glance
Park Gyu-young: Known for her role in the Netflix series Sweet Home (Seasons 1 and 2). She also stars in the upcoming Netflix series Celebrity.
Jo Yu-ri: The singer and actress is known as a former member of the Korean-Japanese girl group Iz*One.
Kang Ae-sim: Well-regarded in Korea, the theater and musical actress made an impression on audiences with her performance in TV series Be Melodramatic and Netflix series Move to Heaven.
Lee David: Acted in “The Fortress” among others.
Lee Jin-uk: He starred in the Netflix series Sweet Home (Seasons 1 and 2) and is also known for his roles in various Korean dramas and films including Miss Granny.
Choi Seung-hyun: The singer and actor has appeared in various Korean films and TV series such as Tazza: The Hidden Card and Commitment.
Roh Jae-won: He made his acting debut in 2021 and quickly gained recognition for films like Missing Yoon and Ditto.
Won Ji-an: Made an impressive debut in the first season of the Netflix series DP.
