‘Matthijs van Nieuwkerk wants to return to DWDD time slot after house arrest’

After his self-imposed house arrest, Matthijs van Nieuwkerk would like to return to the time slot of De Wereld Draait Door, media connoisseur Rob Goossens has heard in the corridors.

For years it seemed that Matthijs van Nieuwkerk would just get away with his horror behavior as De Wereld Draait Door presenter, but his victims have finally received justice. The presenter has been at home for over half a year now and that makes you humble; something that every media figure can use according to Alexander Klöpping.

Screaming Matthews

It is to be hoped that Matthijs has unlearned that screaming a bit, otherwise his new girlfriend Martha Riemsma will be able to get a hearing aid by now. That poor woman hoped to build a nice TV career through Matthijs, but in reality she is now mainly busy with beating up his pillows.

It has now become clear that Matthijs is slowly working towards his big TV comeback, but what exactly is he going to do? Rob Goossens has heard a few things in the corridors, he reveals in the RTL Boulevard From yesterday.

DWDD back on TV?

Rob has even heard that Matthijs is open for 7 p.m. on NPO 1, the place where he made De Wereld Draait Door for years. “So what I hear is that he actually finds the whole palette interesting again. (…) He is of course the great talk show host and even that domain, so he would be interested in that again.”

The media connoisseur continues: “Even a daily talk show would be an option. In any case, that is what is being talked about in NPO circles, where you should of course note: there is a lot of chatter in Hilversum.”

‘It’s an option’

Matthijs can still demand anything, Rob thinks. “Of course it is true: someone this big can basically say: ‘I think it would be nice to do it again at 7 pm.’ Then they will see if there are opportunities there. Of course, Nadia didn’t really turn out to be what everyone hoped it would be, so that’s an option. Khalid & Sophie is ok, but could be better.”

He continues: “In that respect, there is room. What I heard from the producers is that they were cautiously sounded like, ‘Take a think about whether there’s anything you can think of for that 7:00 p.m. time slot.’ Incidentally, the NPO says: ‘Whoa, wait a minute, we really didn’t ask such a question. We just want ideas for the time slot of First Dates on NPO 3.’”

Blueprint

The NPO therefore denies the rumors and says it only wants something new on NPO 3, in addition to First Dates. “But if he were to come back… He has that time in his fingers, of course. If he was going to make a late talk show, he would start from scratch again, because that’s a completely different genre.”

Marc Overmars, who silenced criticism with new successes, can serve as an example. “That can be a kind of blueprint for Matthijs. From: if I start making another brilliant program at seven o’clock, then people will have forgotten the annoying things around De Wereld Draait Door and then it will remain that that is really just my time slot.

No harsh gossip

Angela de Jong thinks Rob’s rumors are a bit weak. “I saw it at Boulevard and I found there was very little evidence that it was. No, I didn’t really think it was a very hard gossip,” she responds to Marcel & Gijs.

“I can hardly imagine it. Well that he’s coming back, because no one wants to end his career like this, but another daily talk show at his age what he’s been doing for fifteen years? That can only be less.”
