After 85 international matches, handball player Ivo Steins stops immediately as a handball international with the Dutch handball team.
The Lions circle player made that decision for himself after the European Championship in Hungary.
World Championship
The 29-year-old handball player from Voerendaal is therefore missing from the selection of the Dutch team, which is preparing for the two decisive qualifiers for the world championship.
Short length
Steins cites his stagnating development as a handball player as the main reason for ending his international career. His height also plays an important role in this. Due to his short height, he can add little defensively in international handball. Within the Dutch team, Steins has also been surpassed offensively as a circle player by a number of other players.
Pride
The brother of Luc Steins, who plays at Paris Saint Germain, is proud of his participation in this year’s European Championship. He fully realizes that this was the highest achievement for him in his handball career.
Lions
Ivo Steins and his club Kembit-Lions are still in the race for the Final Four of the BeNe-League. On Thursday-evening, Lions took a big step towards those final games by winning 35-31 against Bevo.
