The Finns left the Swedes to zero in Härmä

The Finnish horses did well in the competitions.

The Nordic King raced at the Powerpark race track in Härmä was a celebration for the Finns. HV Tuuri took the first prize of 50,000 euros, and the Finnish horses took the first eight places.

The first level of Finnish horses has been talked about for a couple of years now Evartin and Parvelan Retu of rock-hard encounters, but the hard level of the race does not rest only on two super horses. Already turned 13 years old HV Tuuri won a prestigious one a couple of weeks ago in Oslo of Alm Svarten memorial race, and in Nordic King HV Tuuri left behind both Evart and Parvelan Retu.

Iikka Nurmonen driven by HV Tuuri was drawn for track seven, i.e. the second outermost place in the front row. However, the stallion’s starting speed is so ferocious that HV Tuuri dashed from a bad place to the front without caring.

The biggest favorites Parvelan Retu and Evartti were in the back row. Out of them, with the creativity of his instructor Santtu Raitala, Evartti got through brilliantly to the top group and to good attacking positions. On the other hand, Parvelan Retu, who started from the outermost place, was left behind at the beginning, and Hannu Torvinen soon started driving it towards the top of the third track.

A Swedish guest advanced alongside HV Tuuri BWRune, paced by which the speed of the trip remained brisk. When Evartti was able to start his own streak from good positions from the second pair on the outside, many expected him to coast to victory, but HV Tuuri certainly held his own in the end. Evartti was a good second before Parvelan Retu, whose run was hopelessly difficult.

The winner’s teammate Stallone was fourth, and by the way the Finns skimmed the cream. The Finnish horses took the first eight places, the Finnish-owned cold-blooded Nyland was ninth, and the tough Swedish guests came only after that.

– It was a tight race and the horses decided their superiority. We had the best today and were the first at the finish line, instructor Iikka Nurmonen summed up the course of the race in the winner’s interview.

“Really good”

HV Tuuri has always been known for its ferocious speed, but it only made its breakthrough to the hardest level of Finnish horses a couple of years ago, when it was already 11 years old. In the 2021 season, HV Tuuri won twelve times and earned 176,000 euros. During the season, it was, among other things, second in Nordic King and Elitkampen, where it ran a terrible result of 18.6a.

Last year HV Tuuri was not as good as the year before. According to the horse’s supporters, it was even close to ending the stallion’s racing career.

– Even this spring, there was talk of whether these are its last starts, Iikka Nurmonen specified.

– When a horse is as good as it was at its best, it is capable of such performances, even if it is no longer 100%.

This season, HV Tuuri has risen back to the top. After his win on Saturday, his earnings for the season are just under 100,000 euros. Just under two weeks ago, HV Tuuri cleared 250,000 Norwegian kroner, or almost 25,000 euros, from Oslo.

– It took a five-day trip to Norway, and they basically don’t get better after that. The horse is really good now, trainer Ossi Nurmonen rejoiced in the winner’s interview.

– I have told the owners and friends that none of you know how good this horse is. Even today it was seen that it fought until the end. He’s thirteen, but that doesn’t matter, and there are years ahead of him. It has heavy capacity and terrible physics.

The owner and breeder of HV Tuuri is Lotus-Talli from Rauma, behind which Marko Vuolukka with his family.
