Defending champions Mad Lions have secured the sole lead in the League of Legends league LEC. The pursuers are close, behind them the field moves closer together.
“Last season was tough, at least in the beginning,” said Mad’s Javier “Elyoya” Prades Batalla in the post-match interview. “Now we have four wins, which is one more than last season, so we’re happy for now.”
After a perfect start to the season, Mad went into the second week of the game unbeaten alongside Team Heretics. The defending champion played well against Astralis and maintained his winning streak. However, Heretics was not able to maintain the lead in the table: The team around newcomer Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié suffered their first defeat of the season against outsiders Excel Esports.
The Spanish team fell behind Mad and shares second place in the table with G2 Esports and Fnatic, who continue to have a strong season with new formations. The season hasn’t gone to plan for Koi and Team Vitality so far, with both teams slipping to the bottom half of the table alongside SK Gaming, Excel and Astralis after losing to Fnatic and G2.
