Top 50: The current status in the “Golden Boy” ranking
50 Hakon Arnar Haraldsson | Copenhagen | Iceland | Golden Boy Index: 68.2
However, the selection process is different from previous years. From now on, an algorithm called “Golden Boy Index” will be combined with a final vote by 50 journalists from all over Europe. The 100 list is no longer reduced by 20 players every month, but all 100 candidates remain in the running until a month before the election just before the end of the year. Then there will be a cut based on the “Golden Boy Index”, which is mainly made up of athletic performance, playing time and club strength. The twenty best talents on the list and five wildcards advance to the final, where the jury votes.
Jamal Musiala (20) from FC Bayern has the best cards in the race at the start, who currently tops the list with a “Golden Boy Index” of 98.3 ahead of Jude Bellingham (19; Index: 95) who is still a BVB professional. and last year’s winner Gavi (18; index: 93) from FC Barcelona.
