For Marc Márquez, the race weekend at the Sachsenring is gradually turning into a nightmare. The six-time MotoGP World Champion crashed badly during warm-up on Sunday morning, it was the Spaniard’s fifth departure of the race weekend. After a “highsider” at a good 150 km/h, the 30-year-old Honda works driver was visibly battered.
Márquez lost control of his bike in Friday’s second free practice session for the German Motorcycle Grand Prix and crashed into Frenchman Johann Zarco. Its Ducati was torn in two. In qualifying on Saturday, Márquez fell three more times within 20 minutes.
The race starts at 2 p.m. (ServusTV). Former MotoGP dominator Marquez has consistently won his past 11 feature races at the Sachsenring. In the sprint on Saturday, the seventh in qualifying was only eleventh.
