With Dawid Kownacki, Fortuna Düsseldorf has to cope with the free transfer of its most accurate professional (to Werder Bremen). Although the second division team has already presented third division clipper Vincent Vermeij from SC Freiburg II as a reinforcement for the attack, it will certainly not stop there. The club’s record purchase so far is Kownacki, who – including rental fee (1.25 million euros) and fixed fee – cost a total of 8 million euros.

When asked about Latte Lath’s personnel, Fortuna’s sports director Klaus Allofs said: “I will not comment on every name. But there is a shortlist of interesting names. But we prefer to keep it to ourselves so as not to arouse the interest of other clubs. It’s always nicer when the names are only known when the signing is made.”

According to reports, transfer target Latte Lath was also on the list for league rivals Hamburger SV. The offensive man should have switched to the Elbe if striker Robert Glatzel had made use of his exit clause by June 15. As in the previous year, the 29-year-old stayed on the Elbe. In the course of this, his contract was extended until 2027 with an improvement in salaries. Should the North Germans miss promotion again in 2024, Glatzel may “Picture” according to go for 2.5 million euros. The previous exit option is said to have been EUR 1.5 million.
