Italrugby, Quesada is the new coach: “Honored to coach the Azzurri”

Gonzalo Quesada will be the new Italy coach from 1 January 2024. He will take the place of Kieran Crowley – who will lead the Azzurri to the World Cup scheduled from 8 September to 28 October in France – in view of the twenty-fifth edition of the Guinness Six Nations.

The Argentine coach was made official by the Rugby Federation after reaching the French Top14 barrage with Stade Francais. Originally from Buenos Aires, raised in the Hindu Club and graduated in Economics from the University of Belgrano, Quesada boasts a brilliant career as a fly-half and, in his 38 appearances for Argentina, he has scored 486 points, fourth Puma most all-time prolific. However, his career as a player, as well as that as a coach, is closely connected with France, where Quesada arrived in 2000 wearing the jerseys of Narbonne, Bezier, Stade Francais, Pau and Toulon: retiring in 2007, he immediately launched a promising path as a coach, taking on the role of assistant coach of the Transalpine national team led by Marc Lièvremont from 2008 to 2011, winning the Grand Slam in 2010 and reaching the Final in Auckland lost 8-7 against the All Blacks hosts.
