Marius Wolf talks about Guerreiro’s transfer to Bayern Munich

Although he has been under contract with Borussia Dortmund since 2018, Marius Wolf was something like the discovery of the season that just ended at BVB. The versatile 28-year-old has now spoken about his possible future with the black and yellow and also commented on the change from colleague Raphael Guerreiro, who of all things joins league rivals FC Bayern.

In the past, Marius Wolf was still considered a candidate for sale at Borussia Dortmund. After moving from Eintracht Frankfurt to BVB in the summer of 2018, the right-back struggled and was temporarily loaned out to Hertha BSC and 1. FC Köln. But the hour of the now 28-year-old, who had already played more and more into focus in the 2021/22 season, finally came.

In the most recent season, Wolf’s good performances helped the black and yellow team to dream of the title for a long time. But what’s next for Wolf, whose contract expires next summer? In this case, there is usually an extension or a sale so that the releasing club can still achieve a transfer fee. The veteran made his decision long ago and is now waiting for a signal.

Asked by “Spox” if there were already talks about an extension, Wolf said: “No, I didn’t want to be distracted by it during the season.” At the end of last year, his heart operation delayed possible negotiations.

“At first my focus was on coming back after my surgery,” said Wolf, adding: “Then the games were too important.”

Now, after the season, the time might have come. “I feel good in Dortmund. It has always been my club, I would like to stay,” emphasized the 28-year-old.

Wolf praises two ex-BVB colleagues

Raphael Guerreiro, who declined an offer to extend the contract and left BVB after seven years (free transfer), made a completely different decision from Wolf. Shortly after his departure, it was announced that he would join Bayern Munich. The German record champions have now confirmed the upcoming commitment.

“Personally, I wish him all the best – although he’s obviously going to Bayern,” said Wolf with a laugh.

Guerreiro is “humanly a super guy and an outstanding footballer. It was clear to me that he would switch to a top club,” said the defender.

Wolf also had warm words for Jude Bellingham, who had switched to Real Madrid. “If I compare him when he arrived and now, I see two different people. I’ve never seen in football that someone has developed so much in such a short time – in terms of football, but above all as a person,” said the BVB professional 103 million euros fixed sum to the Royal transferred Englishmen.
