“This is not just a speech by the head of state <...> to the people and the promise of some kind of “cakes”, additional benefits and solutions to social problems in the broadest sense of the word. You and I must show the direction of development of the country, its economy and the basis on which we, of course, will solve the main task – improving the well-being of our citizens, ”Putin said.

Putin traditionally delivers a message to the Federal Assembly in the first months of the year. Last year, the appeal took place on April 21.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin would address parliament in early 2022, but added that there was no set date for the event. This year’s address will be Putin’s 18th during his tenure as president.
