Tennis player Tatjana Maria missed the quarter-finals in Nottingham in preparation for Wimbledon. The 35-year-old Swabian lost her second-round game against British qualifier Heather Watson 4-6, 4-6.
Watson had previously thrown Jule Niemeier from Dortmund out of the $259,303 tournament. Wimbledon is the third Grand Slam event of the season from July 3rd to 16th. There Maria had surprised by reaching the semi-finals and Niemeier by reaching the quarter-finals a year ago.
Incidents at Nottingham
The Nottingham Open continued despite the incidents in the English city on Tuesday. Three people were killed and three others injured in three separate incidents at multiple crime scenes.
