A large travel bag on the back and a small bag on the chest: this is how Chileans Claudia (29) and Simon (28) walk through the Zoetermeer Wilhelmina Park with their belongings. “We are on our way to Schiphol to catch the plane back to Chile.”

Actually, they don’t have time for a chat, because they have to go to Centrum West to catch the tram to The Hague Central Station, but Claudia and Simon want to say briefly that they had a good time in Zoetermeer.
Tour Europe
Claudia and Simon are touring Europe and they have been on the road for four months. Claudia says: “We first visited friends in France and then traveled further.” The Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Belgium and London: they can cross these destinations off their wish list.
Nice bike paths
The couple stayed with an aunt of Simon’s in Zoetermeer for the last two weeks of their tour. “She lives in the Village and from her house we did fun activities in the city,” says Simon. “It is a beautiful city with lots of water and greenery. The bike paths are good here and everything is flat. We also cycled in France, but it was almost impossible because of the mountains.” Claudia adds: “And we went shopping in the center and went out for dinner. Zoetermeer is a nice city.”

Next trip goes to
Claudia and Simon are looking forward to going home. Simon: “I have a visa for a certain period of time to stay in Chile. After a months-long journey, I would like to go back and get back to work.” What is their next dream destination? Simon says: “For now I don’t want to go anywhere, but New Zealand is still on our wish list. But first to Schiphol to catch the plane home.”
