French soccer superstar Kylian Mbappé has informed PSG that he does not intend to sign a new contract with the Parisian club.

A French newspaper reported on the matter L’Equipewho says he saw a copy of the letter in which Mpabbé announces that he will leave the club when his contract expires next summer.

Mbappé’s contract expires in June 2024, when he would leave the club as a free agent. However, the announcement of the star striker’s desire to leave may force PSG to find a new club for Mbappé already this summer in order to receive a transfer fee for him.

L’Equipe claims to have obtained a copy of the letter before it was sent to the club. Mbappé’s spokesperson did not respond to the French media’s request for comment. PSG’s representatives also did not comment on the letter or how the club found out about Mbappé’s intentions to leave.

Mbappé’s future was already full of question marks last summer, when his contract was terminated the previous time. Mbappé was reportedly willing to move to Spain to Real Madrid, but the Qatari-led PSG lured him to stay in Paris with a lucrative contract.

At the time, PSG signed Mbappé to a two-year contract that included an option for a third season. However, according to a letter seen by L’Equipe, Mbappé has now told PSG that he will not exercise the option, which will see his time at the Parisian club come to an end after the coming season – unless PSG find a new address for him this summer.
