Supervisory Board Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed the free transfer from Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro to FC Bayern Munich. “We have now got good players in Guerreiro and Laimer,” said the long-time CEO of Munich at “DAZN. Several media had previously reported on an agreement with Guerreiro, who will become the sixth player to move from BVB to Säbener Straße on July 1st. Most recently it was Mats Hummels in 2016.

Free transfer | Official confirmation is still pending – Rummenige announced the change.
In addition, Rummenigge sees a need for action with the German champions, especially in the center of attack: “You gave up Lewandowski, that was at least 50 goals in all competitions that you missed. Something will have to be done about that.” Bayern did not react to the departure of their top scorer last summer by signing an experienced centre-forward, but opted for Sadio Mané from Liverpool FC, who is now considered a candidate for sale. The trained winger became the top earner with a rumored €24m a year, but only scored 12 goals in 38 games in his first season.
Rummenigge and Honorary President Uli Hoeneß would initially participate in squad planning as members of a small group until a new sports director was found. “As soon as we have a sports director or sports director, Uli and I will also retire. We will look at things critically from time to time, that is necessary.”

The Munich team parted ways with CEO Oliver Kahn and sports director Hasan Salihamidzic immediately after winning their eleventh championship title in a row. Rummenigge then moved to the supervisory board, with Jan-Christian Dreesen succeeding Kahn. “We’ll do it calmly,” said Rummenigge about the search for a successor to Salihamidzic. The most important criterion for the new sports director is his “quality”.
The TV channel “Sky” reported on Saturday that RB Leipzig’s Max Eberl was still the favourite.
Rummenigge said about the future direction of the German record champions: “Sometimes the ‘Mia san Mia’ is overused for me. You have to lead FC Bayern specifically. The club needs to be breathed back into empathy, we have quality.” With a squad value of 980 million euros, the Munich team is the third most valuable team in the world – the front runner is treble winners Manchester City with 1.05 billion euros. The imminent return of loan player João Cancelo to the Citizens, whose market value is around 60 million euros, will make the difference in squad value significantly larger.
