Erik Dijkstra lashes out bizarrely hard at ‘whining’ Fidan Ekiz at Jinek

Erik Dijkstra lashed out hard at the ‘whining’ Fidan Ekiz on Eva Jinek’s talk show last night. “De Vooravond was just not a good program. Get over it!

Fidan Ekiz is currently in the news because she made a documentary about cancel culture together with Kees Schaap, but that BNNVARA ultimately did not want to broadcast it. The boss of the broadcaster wanted to get a few things out of it, but the makers held their ground and now the film can be seen under the banner of Omroep MAX.

“Get over it!”

One of the subjects in the documentary is that Fidan’s talk show De Vooravond was taken off the tube two years ago by BNNVARA, and according to the presenter this is partly because of her ideas. “BNNVARA is sectarian and woke. They sent me away. They have let me down, shut me out and rebuked me.”

BNNVARA star Erik Dijkstra does not recognize himself in this. He says in the Jinek from yesterday evening: “Yeah, you know… I just didn’t think De Vooravond was a very good programme. You can do that too, you know. Then you can also stop with such a talk show. I honestly feel like getting there now… What is it? Two or three years later? To whine about that… Get over ityou know.”

‘Do not notice anything’

Erik denounces the image that is painted of his employer. “And today I read stories in the newspaper or something about ‘fear culture’ at BNNVARA. Yes, then I think: I also work at BNNVARA, for fifteen years, and I don’t really notice it.”

Doesn’t Fidan have a point that there is less room for unwelcome opinions in broadcasting? “A culture of fear, what are you talking about? Everyone can say whatever they want in this country, right? She too, me too and everyone.”

‘Not been there’

What does Erik think about BNNVARA wanting to cancel that documentary? “Yes, I was not there during the whole process of how that went. At a certain point, like you, I will find things that happened internally – that story about a Christmas gift and so on… I wasn’t there, but when a broadcaster says: ‘We want that out’, and the makers want that not. Yes, then you get into a discussion with each other…”

He continues: “You know, I actually think it… I find myself a little… I don’t think it’s really such an interesting theme or anything, I think. I don’t feel that way. I do not recognize myself in the accusation and when I read things about ‘culture of fear’ and ‘you are not allowed to say anything’… Yes, what is it about, dude?”

nag

Is he going to watch Fidan’s documentary? “No, I don’t think so, no. Then I have to look into why a program stopped two or three years ago, I don’t think that’s really relevant…”

Hostess Eva Jinek will take a look. “I will go take a look. I’m interested if something like this plays into such a topic. Of course I’m not involved either, so I can’t judge it either, but I’m asking you because it’s your broadcaster and could know a little more about it.”

Disappointed in Sheep

Erik: “No, not really. I just don’t think it’s a very interesting issue. You know what I dislike about it? That series was made by Fidan together with Kees Schaap and I made that series together with Kees Schaap about the strike in World War II. I was very proud of that.”

He concludes: “Actually, I would have liked to have made more series like that. Those are subjects that interest me more. I actually don’t think this… Yes, whining about a talk show that was taken off the tube two years ago. I did tell him that, yes. He says, “I think that’s important.” Well, then you should do it.”

Fierce criticism

Erik is strongly criticized for his unkind statements at Jinek. Fidans ex Wierd Duk tweets: “Erik Dijkstra therefore attacks a fellow presenter from Op1 – Fidan Ekiz – at Jinek while he cannot defend himself because she is not at the table. That is almost lower than the time he almost seriously injured someone, throwing a beer bottle.”

Opinion maker Erik de Vlieger: “Erik Dijkstra goes fist deep into his boss’s ass and disrespects Fidan Ekiz because it suits him better. What an unbelievably worthless asshole that guy is. Please BNNVARA, pass it on to that weak ass.”

And Ron Vergouwen: “Well, your ex-colleagues are what you need… But oh well: the Christmas bonus has arrived!”
