Patrick Osterhage from VfL Bochum will miss the U21 European Championship due to injury. As the German Football Association (DFB) announced on Thursday, the 23-year-old midfielder sustained an injury at the end of the Bundesliga season and will not be in time for the start of the tournament from June 21 to July 8 in Romania and Georgia fit. A subsequent nomination is not planned.
Due to the absence of Osterhage, who missed three games in Bochum’s final sprint due to muscular problems and only played again on the last day of the game, the German U21 team now consists of 25 players. However, only 23 players are allowed to go to the European Championship, but selection coach Antonio Di Salvo only has to report the final DFB squad for the European Championship to UEFA by June 14th.
