We tested the hit hair removal product, the hair removal stone.
There are plenty of different options available for hair removal. There are shavers, epilators and more. Last year, however, something completely new appeared on the market. Since last summer, Tiktok has already been able to see videos of people grinding away hair with a depilatory stone.
This year, the Finnish company Answr launched its own version of a hair removal stone. I had to test it.
Promise: The hair removal stone promises to remove hair painlessly with the help of friction. the hair removal stone exfoliates the skin during hair removal, leaving it glassy smooth. The friction caused by the glass surface improves the surface blood circulation of the skin, smoothing the orange skin and fading the corns.
Hair removal is done by rubbing the stone with the skin pulled tight in circular motions. One hair removal stone is equivalent to about 12 disposable blades and lasts half a year when hair removal is performed twice a week.
The product is cleaned with warm water and soap.
This is how the hair removal stone works
Pros: The product does have quite a wow effect! It’s great to see how the hair is removed just by rolling the epilator against the skin. The process is painless, as long as the hair removal stone is not held in the same area for too long, and not too hard.
The hair disappears right up to the surface of the skin and the skin becomes smooth. A gentle feeling of warmth is created on the surface of the skin, so I think the surface blood circulation will really increase during the hair removal session.
It’s also a plus that the hairs stay away a little longer than, for example, when shaving with a planer.
Cons: The process is indeed painless, but I have the same experience with, for example, a shaver. Hair removal takes longer than shaving. A hair removal stone is not recommended for skin areas where the skin is thin and loose, such as armpits, intimate area and face.
The skin itched a few hours after use.
Other considerations: I had applied an oil-based cream to my skin in the morning after showering. The surface of the skin was therefore quite slippery, and friction could not arise so easily. So make sure that the skin has been moisturized for a long enough time before you use the hair removal stone.
The product should be used against dry skin and the instructions for use recommend saving the moisturizing process until the moment after use.
Judgment: A fun and functional new product. However, I don’t think that I will use the product very actively.
