The financially troubled Bundesliga relegated Hertha BSC has submitted all documents for the granting of a license for the coming season to the German Football League (DFL) on time.
“In the past few weeks and months we have done everything we can to meet the requirements of the DFL,” Hertha managing director Thomas Herrich (59) was quoted as saying in a statement published by the club on Wednesday.
They want to “thank the league for the constructive exchange,” Herrich continued. At the general meeting in mid-May, the managing director declared that the club wanted to “reduce 30 percent of squad costs”.
“We have simply lived beyond our means in recent years. We have constantly had more expenses than income,” said the 59-year-old.
After a disappointing season, Hertha was relegated from the Bundesliga for the seventh time. Now the clammy club has to wait for the decision of the DFL.
