The 20 semifinalists of the Miss Finland 2023 competition were announced on Wednesday in Helsinki.
Winds of change have blown in the traditional pageant this year, because now for the first time married and married women can also apply for the pageant.
The organizing organization has announced in advance that there has been a record number of applicants for the competition this year.
– There are hundreds of them. Last year there were a hundred more than the year before. This year there were twenty more, but even then it was a record number, says Sunneva Sjögrén, the organizer of the competition.

Many people dream of the Miss Finland title, but whoever gets the brightest crown on their head gets other prizes as well.
– I think one of the most important prizes is the calendar, which already has a lot of work opportunities booked for Miss Finland. We already have jobs lined up for the future Miss Finland, regardless of who Miss Finland is, says Sjögrén.
– There will be really valuable prizes from the partners, he continues and adds that not all prizes have been announced yet.
Sjögrén says that, for example, at the reigning Miss Finland Petra Hämäläinen has a car at his disposal throughout the missive year.
– We also pay for the Miss Universum trip, where we are talking about tens of thousands of euros, which it always costs us every year. This is one of the biggest prizes that Miss Finland receives every year. In many other countries, the contestants may pay for the trip to Miss Universe themselves, but here, the contestant is sent there by us, says the Miss Empress.
