Silva failed five times at the post or the crossbar, as the figures from the data supplier Opta show. So the striker could have more than doubled his yield with a little more accuracy. His team mates Christopher Nkunku (4 times) and Timo Werner (3 times) often aimed too precisely and robbed the Saxons of a better place this season by failing to evaluate their chances.

Like Nkunku four times, Gerrit Holtmann (VfL Bochum), Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer 04), Simon Terodde, Marius Bülter (both Schalke 04) and Niklas Süle (BVB) failed. The fact that the latter is included in this list is all the more impressive when you consider that he still equaled his personal best in a season with two goals. Not a single central defender has scored six goals in the top five leagues.
