New Tottenham coach is here! Julian Nagelsmann gets nothing

Former Australia coach Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as the new team manager at top English club Tottenham Hotspur. As the Londoners announced, the 57-year-old signed a four-year contract until the summer of 2027. Julian Nagelsmann, who was fired from Bayern Munich in March, had previously been traded to Spurs.

Postecoglou joins Spurs after two years at Scottish champions and cup winners Celtic Glasgow, becoming Australia’s first Premier League coach.

“Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play,” said club boss Daniel Levy. “He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the connection to the academy – everything that is important to our club .” For Tottenham, this ends the search for a coach that has been going on since the separation from Antonio Conte on March 26th.

Ex-Bayern coach Nagelsmann continues without a post

Julian Nagelsmann, who was released from Bundesliga record champions FC Bayern Munich, had meanwhile been traded as a candidate for the north Londoners.

After Conte left, his assistant coach Cristian Stellini and then interim coach Ryan Mason looked after the team. Under Mason, Tottenham finished last season in eighth place in the English Premier League.

For Postecoglou, the post at Tottenham is the first in a top European league. Before arriving in Scotland, he coached in Japan, Australia and Greece. From 2013 to 2017 Postecoglou was Australian national coach and became Asian champion with his team in 2015.
