The Real Madrid footballer attended the Flamengo-Vasco classic and was honored for his fight against racism
Vinicius appreciated the expressions of solidarity and assured that he will stand firm in the fight for his ideals
Vinicius Jr. closed the season on Sunday at the Bernabéu against Athlétic Club (1-1) and on Monday night he returned to the Maracaná, in Rio de Janeiro, where he received the affection of the ‘crooked’ of Flamengo and Vasco da Spectrum for his attitude of denouncing the racist insults he was suffering during the clash against Valencia played at Mestalla.
The Real Madrid international, who has become a symbol against racism in Brazil, began his vacation in his country. He will only break through to participate in the next FIFA date when he will play two friendlies for the Seleçao, one of them at the RCDE Stadium against Guinea.
He jumped onto the pitch in the middle part of the Rio de Janeiro classic that closed the ninth day of the Brasileirao. He did it by holding a Flamengo shirt in his hand, which is his old club and of which he is a follower, and another from Vasco da Gama, both with his name stamped on them, and he showed them to the public present. With his fist raised, Vini was cheered by the public present at the Rio de Janeiro stadium.

“The joy of being here in the Maracana to see Flamengo and the Clásico is great, I am very happy for everything they did for me”said Vini, at the foot of the field in statements to the Premier channel that was televising the match live. “I hope you can remain firm to continue the fight for those who are to come”he added.
Flamengo was the Brazilian entity that mobilized the most to express its unconditional support for the racist attacks suffered by his ex-canteran. The weekend after the riots at Mestalla, the Rio de Janeiro club organized a spectacular mosaic in the Maracana with the slogan “Everyone with Vini Jr.”.
That same day, in the league match against Cruzeiro, Flamengo’s shirt had the same phrase stamped in the place normally occupied by its master sponsor.Vinicius chose a good day to see Flamengo live, now directed by Jorge Sampaoli, who thrashed Vasco da Gama (1-4) and confirmed his recovery in the Brasileirao, where he has placed fifth, five points behind Botafogo, who is the leader.
