NAC Breda as the last Brabant club from the play-offs

NAC Breda was unable to turn the tide against FC Emmen in the semi-finals of the play-offs. In their own stadium, the club from Emmen already lost 1-2 on Wednesday, on Saturday evening NAC was unable to rectify that and they lost 2-0. This put an end to the promotion dream of the Breda team.

Just before the break, NAC seemed to take the lead against Emmen. A pass between the lines to Aimé Ntsama Ombaga cleared him in front of goal and the NAC striker also coolly finished that chance, but the flag was raised for offside and the goal was disallowed.

Emmen recovers after the break
Where NAC was able to offer good resistance in the first half, Emmen turned out to be better out of the dressing room after the break. In the 62nd minute, striker Richairo Živkovic made it 1-0 for the team from Emmen. With that, the score over two games was viewed 3-1. As a result, NAC had to score at least twice to drag out extra time.

But coach Peter Hyballa’s team didn’t get to play football anymore. Emmen completely locked the team from Breda and the much-needed goals were therefore no longer scored. Emmen also extended the lead in the very last minute through a goal from Jasin-Amin Assehnoun who curled the ball into the intersection from a distance. He put the final score of 2-0 on the board.

The people from Breda will therefore continue to play football in the kitchen Champion Division for at least one more year. Earlier in the evening, Almere beat VVV Venlo after penalties (2-0) and they will therefore compete against FC Emmen in the final for promotion to the Eredivisie.
