‘Miss Ajax’ leaves Amsterdam after 11 years; Van der Most chooses FC Utrecht

Liza van der Most leaves from Ajax Women to FC Utrecht Women. The 29-year-old defender leaves the club she played for since the 2012/13 season. In the Dom city, Van der Most signs a contract for two years, with an option for a third year.

Van de Most played no fewer than 216 matches for Ajax Women and was thus awarded the title ‘Miss Ajax’. In her eleven seasons in Amsterdam, Van der Most won three national titles, five KNVB cups and an Eredivisie Cup. She was also part of the selection of the Orange Lionesses, who became European champions in their own country in 2017.

“With pain in my heart I have decided that it is time for me to say goodbye to my sporting career at Ajax. It is time for me for a new challenge,” said Van der Most on the Ajax website.

FC Utrecht will make its comeback in the women’s premier league next season. AZ also returns an absence of twelve years back in women’s football. In addition to AZ, Telstar and Ajax are also active in the highest division of Dutch women’s football.
