German U20 national player
Erik Shuranov (21) is leaving 1. FC Nürnberg after 13 years at the club and moving to the Israeli series champion Maccabi Haifa, where the new working paper has already been signed – this was officially confirmed by the Middle Franconia. According to Transfermarkt information, the transfer fee is around one million euros and Nuremberg also secure a high resale share. Shuranov’s contract ran until 2024.
Head of sport and trainer Dieter Hecking says: “Erik’s career was almost perfect until recently, but not anymore this season. Therefore, a change of location makes perfect sense for his further career in order to be able to take a step forward. Despite the current contract, Erik approached us a few weeks ago with the wish to leave 1. FC Nürnberg.” The striker was only on the field for 415 minutes in 18 games (one goal) and has not played at all in the last six games more to use – things went much better in the previous two years.
The current German U20 international, who previously played for the youth teams in Ukraine, says: “I’ve played for the club for more than half my life and I’m incredibly grateful to many, many people for that. Despite the great time at FCN, I now want to try something new for the first time and find old and new strengths at Maccabi Haifa, which is also a big club with a huge history. I am convinced that this is the right step for my career. But now my full focus is on the last game in Paderborn.” Instead of second division football, Shuranov beckons the Champions League in 2023/24 if Maccabi manages to qualify again.
