Extensive interest in the new Zuidlaarder residential area of Laarhove

There is great interest in the 265 homes that are to be built at the rear of the Prins Bernhardhoeve site in Zuidlaren. Last night, interested parties were updated about the new Laarhove residential area to be built.

The residential area must become a mix of types of homes. There is space for social housing, detached houses and apartments, among other things. About half of the homes must fall under the heading ‘affordable’. This refers to homes that may cost a maximum of 350,000 euros.

Alderman Jurryt Vellinga (Leefbaar Tynaarlo) still thinks that is a lot of money. “But nowadays it is almost impossible to build homes that cost less than three tons.”

According to the alderman, the municipality of Tynaarlo will not earn anything from the Laarhove district. “In fact, we are going to put money on it,” he says. “But we feel the need for housing, so building is a political choice for us.”

It seems that Vellinga need not worry that the houses at the rear of the PBH site will not be sold. About 400 interested people attended the opening evening. “There is a lot of interest and most of the people I spoke to are enthusiastic,” says the alderman.

There are a few critical points, however. There are questions about the accessibility of the neighborhood and the increasing traffic movements. And not everyone is pleased with a five-storey apartment complex.

Nevertheless, Vellinga thinks that such a complex should fit in Laarhove. “We have set up the neighborhood spaciously and are looking closely at how Laarhove fits in with the rest of Zuidlaren. So we think it is doable to place those apartments.”

Vellinga hopes that construction can start soon. “As a municipality, we are in a hurry, just like residents, by the way. I have often been asked this evening when we are going to build.”

The expectation is that in the autumn of 2024, the preparation of the soil of the PBH site for construction can begin. It is not yet clear when construction will start.
