Record international player Lothar Matthäus expects Schalke 04 to be relegated from the Bundesliga.
“I think Schalke 04 will get it because there is nothing for them in Leipzig. Everyone there will want to offer themselves for the cup final and give the fans a great league finish,” wrote Matthäus in his “Sky” column .
In the event of a defeat in Leipzig, the Royal Blues would accompany Hertha BSC to the second division.
“I also see Bochum in the relegation. Stuttgart beats the rescued Hoffenheim,” was Matthäus’ verdict.
VfB Stuttgart started the season finale on Saturday in 15th place with the same number of points as VfL Bochum. Schalke has one point less in relegation place 17.
