An evaluation by the InsideEVs portal has shown that Tesla once again dominated the global market for electric vehicles in 2022 and convincingly led the sales figures. The Model Y posted the most sales, with a total of 771,300 sold worldwide last year according to Statista.
In total, the American carmaker delivered around 1.3 million electric cars in 2022, once again outshining the competition. Also in the top 5 is the Tesla Model 3, which was sold 476,340 times.
Second to fifth place
The BYD Song Plus model from BYD came in second in the annual ranking. The BYD Song Plus EV was the most successful with 477,090 vehicles sold electric car from China.
The Tesla Model 3, which has been produced since 2017, ranks third among the world’s best-selling electric cars in 2022. With sales of 476,340, the Model 3 just missed out on the second-placed electric vehicle.
With 424,030 units sold, the WulingHong Guang MINI EV ranks fourth in the ranking of the best-selling electric cars worldwide.
The Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD was able to assert itself with places five, six, seven and eight. With sales of 315,240 units sold, the BYD Qin Plus ranks fifth among the best-selling electric vehicles worldwide in 2022.
