Cup winner FC Bayern Munich is the first team to reach the semi-finals of the playoffs in the Bundesliga. The Baskets Oldenburg, on the other hand, were eliminated.
The Munich team won 65:54 (36:37) at BG Göttingen and ended the best-of-five series flawlessly with 3:0 victories. The best thrower of the team coached by Andrea Trinchieri was Cassius Winston with 16 points.
Favorit Bayern also won the two home games, once by a clear margin (87:67) and once by a narrow margin (87:85). In game three, a strong third quarter, in which Bayern only conceded seven points, was decisive. The Munich side, who were plagued by several failures, also defended strongly in the final section. Bayern can now sit back and relax and wait and see who will be opponents in the semifinals.
Berlin is weakening in the playoffs
A duel with series champion and defending champion Alba Berlin was expected before the start of the playoffs, but Berlin is currently behind with 1-2 wins against Ratiopharm Ulm. On Wednesday (8.30 p.m.) the capital city must win in order not to say goodbye to the playoffs prematurely. Bayern would have home rights again against Ulm, against Alba you would first have to play away. In addition to Munich and Berlin, the winner of the main round, Telekom Baskets Bonn, is another favorite for the title.
Ludwigsburg throws Oldenburg out
In the duel between Ludwigsburg and Oldenburg, the MHP giants clearly won the series 3-0. Ludwigsburg won the third game on Sunday in front of their home crowd with 86:72 (40:37). The hosts won through as a team: Five players managed double-digit scores, including top scorers Will Cherry and Shonn Miller (17).
